Preconception Health Care

There is a growing interest in this practice dating to Ancient Greek & Roman times

They were very aware of avoiding alcohol around the time of conception as it was damaging to the foetus. Some traditional societies also prepared special diets to their young women and men of child bearing age. It is common knowledge that veterinarians, stockbreeders and farmers all practice preconception health care so now it is all about educating us to take time to prepare for conception. Studies by Foresight Association (promoting PCC in UK established in 1978) have demonstrated the effectiveness of preconception health care with 89% of couples having given birth, where previously 81% presented as infertile.  There were no miscarriages, no perinatal deaths; no baby was admitted to special care and no malformations.

In 2003, Foresight completed a large study with 1,061 couples. The statistics from this showed excellent outcomes.  78.4% conceived (leading to a healthy baby) within two years of following the program.  This study also suggests a more than doubled conception success rate for IVF of 47.1% following preconception health care.

Why Preconception care?

We make things easy for both men and women to stay motivated

If you are considering conceiving and planning for the most important and special life-changing event, it is important to consider the benefits of preconception care. There is a critical time of 4 months that is needed to address the foundations of both male and female reproductive health. Why? The formation of sperm can take up to 116 days and since ova are susceptible to damage for about 100 days before ovulation, preconception health care for both partners needs to be in place for a minimum period of four months immediately preceding any attempt to conceive. The instant that egg and sperm combine, an irreversible blueprint is formed for the future development of that baby.

The health of the egg and sperm reflects health/toxicity of the environment in which they grow. It is a very vulnerable time. 4 months is not a long time to plan for the creation of the beautiful healthy baby giving you the best possible start and an opportunity to enjoy a happy healthy pregnancy!

With the incidence of male and female infertility increasing in Western society our complete health and lifestyle package was designed and created as a preventative measure to improve your hormonal health and natural fertility solutions. Approximately 3 out of 5 couples conceive within 6 months of trying; 1 in 4 take between 6 months and 12 months. For the rest, conception takes more than a year, which means there may be a problem.About 15% of Australian couples of reproductive age have a fertility problem. In about 40% of infertile couples, the problem is a male factor, in about 40% it is a female one, and for the
remaining 20% it is a joint problem, or the cause is unknown (“idiopathic”).The causes of infertility are many and varied. They include problems with the production of sperm or eggs, with the fallopian tubes or the uterus, endometriosis, frequent miscarriage, as well as hormonal and autoimmune (antibody) disorders in both men and women.
