Preconception Care is not New!

Ancient History Proved the Practised of Preconception Care
Preconception care dates back to Ancient Greek & Roman times as they were aware that to conceive a healthy baby, you didn’t drink alcohol around this time as it was damaging to the foetus.

Some traditional societies also prepared special diets to their young women and men of childbearing age.

Animal Breeders & Vetinarians Practise Preconception Care
It is common knowledge that veterinarians, stockbreeders and farmers all practice preconception care for the animals.

Good breeding stock, proper nutrition, the timing, and environment all playing a role in producing healthy animals.

Preconception Care Studies
Studies by Foresight Association promoting Pre Conception Care (PCC) in the UK established in 1978 have demonstrated the effectiveness of preconception health care.

Results of the studies showed, 89% of couples having given birth, where previously 81% presented as infertile.

There were also no miscarriages, no perinatal deaths and no baby admitted to special care and no malformations.

Dr Professor Neil Ward conducted the most widely quoted study.

In his letter to the Editors of The Journal of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine, Professor Neil Ward, Surrey University, wrote:

“Written and telephone follow-ups carried out in 1993 revealed that 327 (89%) of women had become pregnant and 327 children had been born since enrolment. There were no multiple pregnancies. In remarkable contrast to the couples’ previous experience, all their babies (137 males and 190 females) were born healthy and were well developed at birth which occurred from 36 to 41 weeks (mean 38.5 weeks). Average birth weight was 3265g (2368 – 4145). None were malformed, and none were transferred to special baby care units. Among 204 couples with infertility problems, 175 (86%) had achieved healthy pregnancies.”

In 2003, Foresight completed a large study with 1,061 couples. The statistics from this showed excellent outcomes. 78.4% conceived (leading to a healthy baby) within two years of following the program.

This study also suggests a more than doubled conception success rate for IVF of 47.1% following preconception health care.

Preconception Care Doubles Your Success

It Takes Two to Tango!

“If you can’t stop thinking about it, don’t stop working for it”

If you are considering conceiving and planning for the most important and special life-changing event, it is crucial to consider the benefits of preconception care.

It is an essential time for you as a couple to prepare for the best opportunity to create a healthy egg and healthy sperm!

There is a critical time of four months that is needed to address the foundations of both male and female reproductive health.

Why Four Months?

The instant that egg and sperm combine, an irreversible blueprint is formed for the future development of that baby.

Natural Fertility Preconception care can influence these stages of development.

The health of the egg and sperm reflects health and toxicity of the environment in which they grow. It is a very vulnerable time.

Eliminate Toxins

This time is dedicated to removing toxic substances from your diet and lifestyle, e.g., Drugs, alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, environmental toxins, stress and any other apparent toxins.

Improve Nutrition

Nutritional deficiencies need to be addressed and corrected. A qualified Natural Fertility Management Practitioner is specialised in this are.

The Woman

Time to produce a healthy egg = three and a half to four months.

A woman is born with all her eggs.

The final stage of egg development is 100 days.

The Man

Time to produce a healthy sperm = two and a half to three months.

A male goes through generations of new sperm continually. The formation of sperm can take up to 116 days minimum 72-76 days.

This time is a peak window to influence the health of the sperm for optimum chance of conception.

Preconception Care Increases your chance of conceiving.

Preconception health care for both partners needs to be in place for a minimum period of four months immediately preceding any attempt to conceive.

Four months is not a long time to plan for the creation of a beautiful, healthy baby, giving you the best possible start and an opportunity to enjoy a happy, healthy pregnancy!

Another analogy I like to use when it comes to explaining the benefits of taking some time to dedicate to preconception care is that of a WEDDING!

Could you plan a wedding instantly with a good result?

How much time and money did you spend on your Wedding?

Everyone can relate to how you can’t just plan a wedding to be beautiful and amazing overnight. It takes planning and time to make it successful, magical and a delightful experience for both partners.

Don’t you think a few months to prepare for a healthy conception and baby is worth it?

Your DNA Blueprint – Healthy Egg & Healthy Sperm

Sperm and eggs carry genetic memories of parents’ health well before conception.

Environmental factors and parents’ health before conception have more influence on a child’s future than previously thought; a paper published last week in Science by researchers from the University of Adelaide has found.

The authors conclude that there is now overwhelming evidence that sperm and eggs carry more than just genes – they are coded with genetic memories that can affect the health of an embryo.

This means that parents’ bad habits, such as poor diet or drinking too much alcohol, could be passed on to their children, even if they are healthy during pregnancy or shortly before conceiving.

During the last decade, scientists have been investigating the way that these memories and habits can be passed on to offspring.

This process is known as epigenetics.

Environmental factors, turning the expression of genes on or off, without actually changing the DNA or genetic code.

My Personal Fertility Journey

My passion for natural fertility management is very personal because I know it works, not only from helping my patients with successful outcomes in all areas of reproductive health and fertility but with my own experience.

I truly practise what I preach. In my 20’s, I was taught how to chart my menstrual cycle (before Apps were available) and understand the fertility signs and what it is like to have a ‘healthy period’.

I planned my five babies naturally. Delivered them at home, breastfeed for 15 years and enjoyed every stage of being female.

From puberty to menopause natural fertility management is not only beneficial, but it is truly empowering to be intuned and in control of your body.

My Energy Plus Program and Makeover are beneficial to adopt for preconception care because it runs for three months.

It is easy and fun, especially if you do it together, wanting to achieve the same positive goals.

It is a perfect program to reach your health goals with the makeover challenge. To, learn why nutritional and health & lifestyle habits are essential to improve ‘Your Style of Life’.

Join the Energy Plus Makeover to improve all stages of reproductive health from puberty to menopause.
